Making a Decision
What to Consider when Choosing your Next Rental
The Price
Make sure your total monthly income before taxes is at least 2 times the monthly rent. Don't forget you will have to pay for Gas & Electric, Internet & Cable, Groceries and Personal Expenses
The Ameneties
Make a list of what is most important to you. What are your must haves and what are your nice to haves. What can you live without. It's ok to balance. Having to park on the street is better than not being able to afford your heat!
The Current State of Your Unit
As you view the premise, be sure to make note of any current damages, and/or conditions and find out if those things will be fixed or changed so you have a realistic expectation on move in day.
The Neighborhood
Is this where you want to be? Are you comfortable? How far will you have to drive to school or work? Is that the right place for you?
The Lease
What are the terms? Length, fees, rules? Ask questions!
The Service/Maintenance
What happens if something breaks? Who can you call or email? And how quickly will your needs be taken care of?
